1. What was the problem or challenge you were having before you discovered Floor2Plan?

Before Floor2Plan, we faced constant timesheet errors, fragmented insights, dispersed systems and excessive time spent on bureaucracy. The challenge was our front-line workers being pulled away too much from core shipbuilding tasks. Due to lack of integration, there was too much administration work that kept our first-line workers away from their main job concerning shipbuilding. It was not only the time lost that posed the challenge, but such inefficiencies also prevented our team from dedicating their full attention to shipbuilding with their expertise, thus generally affecting productivity and output quality

2. What did the frustration feel like or what efforts were involved in the previous state?

This was immensely frustrating: to be constantly trying and molding generic corporate software to suit the specialized needs of shipbuilding. We have found ourselves spending much more time than necessary just to explain our requirements, often feeling like we’re forcing square pegs into round holes. Lack of alignment means our team must repeatedly adapt workflows and processes to systems that weren’t built with unique industry demands in mind. This added layer of complication not only slowed us down but also created inefficiencies that took the work focus away from the precise, detailed work needed within shipbuilding.

3. What is different when using Floor2Plan?

With Floor2Plan, this has been a life-changing experience. Because the platform was tailored for shipbuilding, it fits the specialized workflow and integrates seamlessly with SAP and other systems. Not only did it make us compliant with DCAA due to this tailored approach, but it also reduced the administrative burden significantly. It has come a long way in enhancing the communication among teams by tracking activities, their status, and, therefore, overall progress of the tasks. Without gluing a bunch of disconnected tools and hacks together, we can instead focus on our main task: building ships more efficiently, more effectively, and with much better precision.

4. Can you take us to the moment when you realized Floor2Plan was working to solve your problem?

The realization hit one Monday morning when we were processing timesheets for thousands of workers. For the first time, single-digit errors appeared-a huge improvement considering the thousands of workers’ timesheets we are managing. Far from it, that was an indication that Floor2Plan was not yet another tool but really solved a portion of our real pain. In addition to the reduction of errors, we had much deeper insights into costs and workloads, which empowered us to make even better decisions and proactively manage resources. This new-found efficiency confirmed that we’d finally found a solution both effective and tailored to our needs.

5. Can you tell us what life looks like now that your problem is solved or being solved?

With Floor2Plan in place, the going has become much easier and much smoother. The administrative work that took many hours nowadays is reduced to a minimum, hence liberating more of our team to do actual, value-creating work instead of paperwork. A smooth workflow brings clarity into what’s happening with tasks and progress, leading to better team coordination and accountability. What Floor2Plan has saved us from, aside from bureaucracy, helped our bottom line because we now can use our resources to better use and just concentrate on doing quality work. In general, it’s been a game-changer for the business; this is really freeing up productivity, and we’re able to achieve goals more easily.
